NACE COMMUNITY RULES AND GUIDELINES
Thank you for being part of the NACE Community. To ensure the best possible experience for all members, we have established some basic guidelines for participation.
By joining and using this community, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and guidelines. This is a great medium with which to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in an ongoing conversation.
Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these important guidelines. In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for anyone who violate these rules.
If you have questions about the rules or guidelines, please direct them to the Community Manager.
- Comments and discussions are meant to stimulate conversation and should be respectful and professional in nature and in tone. Please allow others to have their say; please do not attack or challenge others.
- Comments and discussions should add to the body of knowledge. NACE reserves the right to reject any posting for any reason.
- Commercial messages—which may include links to your career/recruitment resources website or blog as well as messages offering information on a product or service—are prohibited. Contact people directly with product and service information only in response to a request for information.
- Discussions related to the functionality of/how to use a product or service should be private or conducted through the service provider's users group, not the NACE Community. NACE will close or remove such discussions.
- Do not post promotional messages or library entries on the NACE Community. (This includes information about or links to job opportunities, career and job fairs, books, workshops, conferences, surveys, and/or focus groups, or other commercial career/recruitment resources.)
- All postings must be made in the name of an individual vs. an anonymous account. (The NACE Community is open only to members of the National Association of Colleges and Employers; it is a members-only benefit.)
- Information posted on the NACE Community and to its library is available for all to see, and comments are subject to state and federal laws, statutes, and regulations, including, but not limited to libel, slander, intellectual property, and antitrust laws. Please be advised that NACE is permitted to review and remove any posting deemed improper or in violation of applicable law but has no requirement to do so unless set forth in a specific statute, regulation, or law.
- All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited. Do not post anything that you would not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.
- As noted below in more detail, do not post any information or other materials protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner. Please note carefully all items listed in the “Legal Considerations” section below, particularly regarding the copyright ownership of information posted.
DISCUSSION GROUP ETIQUETTE
- Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, affiliation, and location.
- State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.
- Include only the relevant portions of the original message in your reply. Delete any header information, and put your response before the original posting.
- Only send a message to the entire list when it contains information that everyone can benefit from.
- Do not send administrative messages, such as “Remove me from the list.” Instead, go to your profile (accessible from the top of the page), and make your changes there. (Need assistance? Contact NACE Customer Service.)
- Warn other list subscribers of lengthy messages either in the subject line or at the beginning of the message body with a line that says "Long Message."
